      Su Baofeng, male, associate professor, doctoral supervisor, executive member of Digital Agriculture Branch of Chinese Computer Society, member of the 10th Committee of Basic Technology Branch of Chinese Agricultural Machinery Society, senior member of Chinese Agricultural Engineering Society, member of Japanese Society of Agricultural Materials Engineering (JSAM), Hokkaido University Partner of Japan, Program Fellow of Global Education Program for Agricultural Science Pioneers of Hokkaido University Research Institute of Agriculture of Hokkaido University, Japan, Qingtongxia City wine industry consultant.

      He has been engaged in research on innovation integration of key technologies of precision/smart agriculture and field crop phenotype omics for a long time, and is one of the leaders of the "Vineyard of the Future" international team. He has successively presided over a number of national, provincial and ministerial projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Foundation for Returned Overseas Students, the Shaanxi Key R&D Program, the Shaanxi Science and Technology Research Project, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Key R&D Program, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Key R&D Program, and participated in the 13th Five Year National Key R&D Program as a backbone Major science and technology projects in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and other national, provincial and ministerial projects.

Breeding column | 7 - Targeted sequencing of genotyping

Targeted sequencing is a method to isolate, enrich and sequence a group of target genes or genome regions. This method enables researchers to focus time, cost and data analysis on specific regions of interest (target regions, genes), and use less data to obtain higher sensitivity and accuracy, so as to achieve rapid screening of mutation sites. These target regions usually include exome (the protein coding part of the genome), specific genes of interest (customized content), and target regions in genes or mitochondrial DNA.

FBI seq (Foreground and Background Integrated genotyping by sequencing) is not sequencing by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, but genotyping sequencing integrating foreground and background. As the name implies, this technology realizes the detection and selection of foreground genes and genetic background at the same time. The selection of foreground and background is two very important steps in molecular breeding. At present, breeders often need to carry out these two steps independently: first, screen foreground target sites, and then develop a large number of probes/bait/PCR primers to detect background genotypes. These time-consuming and costly preparations greatly delay the start of breeding projects.
